Fraser Hill Bird Race

Fraser's Hill Development Corporation (FHDC) and Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) are organising the 13th Fraser's Hill International Bird Race on 10th & 11th June 2000 at Fraser's Hill, Pahang, Malaysia. This event is held to popularise bird-watching in Malaysia and to highlight the importance of Fraser's Hill as the premier birding destination in Malaysia and a sanctuary for more than 250 species of birds.

The teams each comprising 3 members will be grouped under 3 categories: advanced, novice and local. Entrance fee for the race is RM10 per team member. Each participant will be given souvenirs such as bird race tee-shirts, waist-pouches etc and discounted accommodation, if required. Only birds sighted are allowed to be recorded. The Race will be flagged off at 2.00pm on Saturday 10th June 2000 and will end at 2.00 pm the following day.

Attractive prizes in kind will be awarded to the first 3 teams in each category:
 

Advanced: 

  First: RM2,100 

  Second: RM1,800 

  Third: RM1,500

Novice: 

First: RM1,500 

Second: RM900 

Third: RM600

Local resident: 

First: RM900 

Second: RM450 

Third: RM225

In addition to the main event, there will also be a talk on the birds of Fraser's Hill by Mr Allen Jeyarajasingam, author of the "Field Guide to the birds of West Malaysia and Singapore", a children's bird colouring contest and an exhibition and sales of birding books and paraphernalia.
